Leaving in the morning.

I got my bag all packed up and am more or less ready to go.  I always feel like I am forgetting something... but I think for the most part, I got the important bases covered.  I am about to copy the email from my host, Stephen, in Glasgow giving me the directions on how to reach his place.  Hopefully I will not get lost.  I will be leaving at 11:00 a.m. and will arrive there the next day on the 19th at 11:45 a.m.  (I believe that is 4:45 a.m. in Salt Lake) so I should have plenty of time to find the place alright.  The main thing on my mind is getting a SIM card over there so I can make calls locally without paying an absurd amount of money.  (hopefully it won't be that expensive... I have no idea).  I most likely won't be calling anyone for most of my trip there with the exception of making internet calls to family using Google, but I can't help but feel that I need to be able to call local people if I need to. I guess it would be in my best interest to be able to call someone if I happened to meet more people over there which I am hoping to do.  As far as internet is concerned... I am relying on the fact that I will have internet at some coffee shops or something.  Stephen probably has internet as well so I shouldn't fret too much for the time being.

I am considering what my next move should be after I get there, or when I should consider moving to the next city, or if I want to visit the country side.  What I want to see exactly is still somewhat up in the air.  I hope to get a chance to speak with Stephen for a good amount of time before I make any concrete decisions because I am hoping to see what he may consider as a good way of getting a feel for the culture and if there are any "must see" or "do" places or things that he might suggest.

I am starting to feel a bit nervous because I have allowed myself to plan so little... but I think this is good.  I have been telling myself that I need to learn to accept uncertainty and to "go with the flow" more, and there is no better way to do it than to just wander a foreign country with no agenda right?  Right.

As for this blog, I will try to keep you all entertained and will challenge myself to do and see as much as I possibly can while wandering around.  I will attempt to post often so I can prevent myself from posting long winded essays that fit in too many things in one setting... I know my eyes start to hurt if I stare at a computer screen too long so I will try not to do that to anyone.

Time to sleep!
